Such systems are used in a wide range of applications. These include in vehicle recording for NVH analysis; aircraft recording during flight and industrial installations to name just a few. This variety of applications requires a wide variety of hardware platforms and configurations. In many applications the data acquisition hardware must withstand the same tough conditions as the equipment it is used to measure. Equally other applications such as research and academia have different requirements such as flexible programming to control the data acquisition hardware. This huge variation makes it a challenging requirement for suppliers to meet. In addition performance criteris such as dynamic range become ever more critical.
